Brexit

The book examines Brexit and its impact on European defense and security policy, drawing on the regional security complex theory to understand European interactions and identify the most important factors affecting security interdependence among European states. These factors include historical relationships between major EU countries, the influence of friendships and rivalries, and the role of great powers. The book reviews the most important stages in the development of European defense and security policy from the end of World War II to the present, analyzing the impact of intra-European relations on common defense and security policy, as well as the role of great powers, particularly the active role played by the United States in strengthening European defense and security. The book also addresses the efforts undertaken by the European Union regarding common defense and security in the context of Brexit, how Britain dealt with it, and its post-Brexit role as part of its new arrangements based on the concept of "e;Global Britain,"e; the dimensions of which were revealed in its strategy issued in March 2021, entitled: "e;Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy."e; The book reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which are: that Britain's exit from the European Union has a relative impact on European defense and security policy, and that its development is primarily contingent on the political will of the EU member states. Furthermore, Britain continues to participate in ensuring European security according to its own orientations, as demonstrated by its involvement in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Finally, ensuring European security will not be possible in isolation from the roles of the United States and NATO, alongside European efforts.
