No Crying

Watching my sister fade from brain cancer was one of the hardest experiences of my life. Nothing I had faced before--financial hardship, personal struggles, or uncertainty--prepared me for the depth of grief that came with losing her.As I reflect on my life, I realize the true test of my faith arrived in that season of loss. Her passing challenged my prayers with painful questions of why, especially when those who are deeply loved are taken too soon. Yet I find comfort in believing that everything happens for a reason.Romans 8:28 is a well-known Bible verse that states, "e;And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose,"e; offering comfort that God integrates all life experiences, even suffering, into a greater, purposeful good for believers, though the "e;good"e; isn't always immediate or what humans desire, emphasizing trust in God's overarching plan and presence. That there is a divine order to life. While the Bible does not say that everything happens for a reason, verses such as Romans 8:28 and Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 remind me that God is present in every season.It wasn't until I spent long days and sleepless nights by her side after her glioblastoma diagnosis that I truly came to know her--and love her--more deeply than ever before. This memoir follows my journey through caregiving: navigating daily challenges, making difficult financial decisions, confronting family conflict, and witnessing how loss reshapes relationships.
