Across the strange boundary between fiction and reality they discover one another. But Todd possesses something Owen does not: the book. And somewhere in its unread pages, Owen's future has already been written for him, and maybe Todd's as well.A Rare and Distant Scent is a literary fantasy about love, loneliness, memories, and feeling like a monster in a world that doesn't want you.The story attempts to answer the unsettling question of what makes someone real and whether it matters when you love them anyway.
