The relationship between linguistics and semiotics has sparked considerable controversy; We have found a group of scholars who consider semiotics a branch of linguistics, given that it has benefited from its epistemological principles, adopted some of its terminology, and utilized a range of its concepts. Therefore, some linguistic schools of thought have reached a consensus that semiotics complements linguistics and is a part of it. This is what Jean Dubois pointed out when he emphasized in his "e;Dictionary of Linguistics"e; that semiology was born from Saussure's project and has not deviated from its subject matter, which is the investigation and study of the life of signs within society. We also find Roland Barthes noting that semiology derives its foundations and procedural concepts from linguistics; therefore, he considers semiotics a branch of linguistics. He was keen to demonstrate this in his scientific work entitled "e;Elements of Semiology,"e; as semiotics-in his view-can Representing it as a copy of linguistic knowledge, he acknowledges that it has branched out from linguistics. However, there are those who see the opposite, as (De Saussure) goes so far as to say that linguistics is a branch of this science, in view of the connections and relationships that this science (semiotics) can weave with sociology and psychology. His vision was based on the assumption that semiotic knowledge could become a science of great importance, and become broader and more comprehensive than linguistics. It appears through a series of studies conducted by (Barthes), (Dubois), and (Christeva) that (De Saussure)'s vision on this subject has been refuted and disproven with scientific evidence and proofs. Linguistics is the origin, and semiotics is the branch, while acknowledging that there are some schools that see the opposite of this scientific trend.
