THE RULING ON COLLECTIVE DUA AFTER OBLIGATORY PRAYERS

Is it permissible to make dua together with the imam after the obligatory prayers — or must every person supplicate alone? In The Ruling on Collective Dua After Obligatory Prayers, Dr. Mufty Hafiz Luthfur Rahman Qasimy answers this debated question with evidences from the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the practice of the Companions. Drawing on the verse of Musa and Harun — "e;The dua of you two has been accepted"e; — the hadith of Habib ibn Maslama al-Fihri on the acceptance of collective supplication, the famous incident of 'Ala al-Hadrami in Bahrain, and the established cases of congregational dua in the Shariah, the book establishes that collective dua is a clear and proven practice. The book also examines — and refutes — the two narrations sometimes cited against collective dua, including the distorted report attributed to the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah, showing that Umar (RA) never punished anyone for supplicating together.A scholarly yet accessible study for imams, students of knowledge, and every Muslim who wants to know the correct position on dua after salah.
