They are cast into the confusing and complex world of the early 21st century and the rise of Donald Trump to the presidency. Jon''s history is different to ours, the assassination attempt at Donald Trump''s inauguration leads to Nuclear conflict in 2022. Trump survives the attempt to win a second term using the nation''s sympathy vote. After re-election he is manipulated by government officials that this was a state-sanctioned attempt by North Korea, leading to nuclear war between the nations. The after-effects are catastrophic and create a downward spiral of American society before a technological resurgence gives rise to super countries and an over-reliance on Artificial Intelligence leading to 2 World Nuclear Wars 1000 years later. Any part Jon plays in this society of the 21st century could change the future for the benefit of all. But shouldn''t he hideaway, have no influence on events, and let time proceed as is?
