Trauma Hunts Archie from Afghanistan to America to Canada

Archie, a New Mexican boy, enlists in the US Army on his eighteenth birthday. It's his chance to leave his family and make himself into the real man his father hounds him to be. Archie's only regret is leaving Pawpaw, his grandfather, behind. But Archie doesn't know Pawpaw has readied himself for this day. Pawpaw has his trusted companion, his Smith & Wesson Outdoorsman, to help him, and he gives it to Archie as his final good-bye present.

Now alone in the world, Archie discovers the Army in Afghanistan isn't what they promised. Blown-up bodies and life-defying action barge into his waking mind, settling in alongside his father's sneers and his twin's derision. Archie leaves the Army and flees the USA in this psychological thriller. His Canadian brothers and sister veterans enfold him as they all battle PTSD. But he takes along Pawpaw's trusted companion and his own modern gun for backup. Will Archie find freedom from his trauma by following Pawpaw or by accepting the warmth of his fellow veterans?
