অতীতকে ভুলে যাওয়া, সব সময় সম্ভব হয় কী? আমাদের জীবনের কিছু ঘটনা স্থায়ীভাবে আমাদের মনে দাগ রেখে যায়। আমরা যতই সামনে বাড়ি, সেসব অপবিত্রতা, নিষ্ঠুরতা, অপব্যবহার, ত্রুটি- আমাদের খামচে ধরে পিছনে টেনে নিয়ে যায়। এসব থেকে পরিত্রাণ বা মুক্তির উপায় নেই।

প্রতিটা মানুষের জীবনেই গল্প থাকে। সেই গল্পের আড়ালেও গল্প থাকে। আর গল্পে জীবন থাকে বলেই একজন লেখক তার নিজস্ব উপলদ্ধি ও অভিজ্ঞতার আলেকে গল্প সাজান। তবে কল্পনা আর বাস্তবের গল্পগুলো হয় ভিন্ন। বাস্তবের গল্পগুলোতে অনেক সময় এমন কিছুও থাকতে পারে, যা অকল্পনীয়, অপ্রত্যাশিত ও হৃদয়বিদারক, যা শেষ হয়েও হয় না, অসমাপ্তই থেকে যায়।
