كاف الاستار لما في هاء الجلالة من اسرار

تعلَّم أن توطّن قلبك على أن تكون لله في أعمالك كلها، لا ترى لنفسك وجود، ثم افنِ في محبّة شيخك، اجعله لك غيبًا وأنت له شهادة، هو لك روحًا وأنت له جسدًا، هو لك قلبًا وأنت له قالبًا، هو لك أصلًا وأنت له ظلًا، هو لك غايةً وأنت له طالبًا، هكذا تفنى فيه حتى تصير ترى بصره وتسمع بسمعه وتصير كل حواسك منه إليك، عند ذلك تفهم قول الصديق رضوان الله عليه حين قال: شرب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حتى ارتويت

Learn to train (tuwaṭṭin) your heart (qalb) to be for God in all your actions, seeing no existence (wujūd) for your self. Then, annihilate yourself (ifnā) in the love of your shaykh; make him the Unseen (ghayb) for you, and yourself the Manifest (shahāda) for him. He is a spirit (rūḥ) for you, and you are a body for him; he is a heart for you, and you are a mold (qālib) for him; he is an origin (aṣl) for you, and you are a shadow (ẓill) for him; he is a goal (ghāya) for you, and you are a seeker (ṭālib) of him.

Thus do you annihilate yourself(tafnā) in him until you come to see with his sight and hear with his hearing, and all your senses flow from him to you. At that moment, you will understand the saying of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq, may God be pleased with him, when he said: 'The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, drank until I became quenched (irtawaytu).
