Ein 32-jähriger adipöser Mann wurde mit einem akuten Abdomen in die Notaufnahme eingeliefert. Er wurde mit intravenöser Flüssigkeit versorgt, und die Blutchemie ergab erhöhte Amylase- und Lipasewerte, erhöhte ESR und einen positiven ASO-Titer-Test. Das CT des Abdomens ergab eine interstitielle ödematöse Pankreatitis (IEP) und keine Flüssigkeitsansammlung. Der Patient wurde mit intravenösem Cefotaxim und Metronidaziol behandelt, und sein Zustand besserte sich unter der Therapie merklich. Nach vier Wochen waren die Blutparameter wieder normal, und das Nachfolge-CT zeigte keine abnormen Befunde, so dass er danach symptomfrei war.
