Der Aphasie-Schnell-Test (AST) ist ein standardisiertes Testverfahren in der Akut-Diagnostik nach Schlaganfall (geeicht an 193 akuten Aphasien). In kürzester Zeit (5-15 Minuten Durchführungsdauer) kann die Frage (akute) Aphasie - keine Aphasie sowie der Grad der Schwere geklärt werden. Der einfach durchzuführende Test misst alle sprachlichen Modalitäten (Verstehen, Sprechen, Lesen, Schreiben) und ist somit auch eine Hilfe zur Therapieplanung. Ferner ist es möglich, den Therapieverlauf zu dokumentieren. Kürzt man das Verfahren um den Untertest "Sprechen", ist eine Differenzialdiagnose Aphasie - Dysarthrie möglich. Der Test ist anwendbar bei allen Patienten mit akuten Aphasien (bis vier Wochen nach dem Ereignis), deren Konzentrationsspanne mindestens 10-15 Min. beträgt. Für alle, die mit akut betroffenen Schlaganfall-Patienten arbeiten, ist dieser Test ein unentbehrliches Instrument.
