Marxism stands accused of economic determinism, reductionism and a silence on human experience. This book argues that these problems can be traced back to Marx's failure to write his planned book on wage-labour. Combined with subsequent ignorance of Marx's method, the result has been a one-sided Marxism. By considering the worker and his or her needs, the author demonstrates the one-sidedness of both concepts (such as the value of labour-power) and theoretical inferences drawn from "Capital".
