Beyond the Backside of God

Moses feared he would die if he looked into the Face of God. He was given reprieve, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind. But my face will not be seen. (Exodus 33:22,23) The author looks beyond the ancient story, the likes of which are of no use to many moderns, into the Cosmic Void where both his self and the ancient god die. We moderns are naked and alone in our perceptions of an impersonal universe, devoid (or Void) of any spiritual meaning . But the Void is not the end. Beyond the Void is an amazing new beginning. Take heart! Find the courage to go on.Join the author on a spiritual journey that detours from the ancient, well lit western pathways to God. The detour is into the way of unknowing (via negativa), the dark night of the soul. It is a journey through hell. In time the dark terrors become the "familiars" where hope is an absurd possibility that one must cling to. Take courage. Grace guides us though the terrible darkness in surprising ways. In a mysterious alchemy, agnosia (spiritual unknowing) is transformed into a dark brilliance where a life of new being becomes possible. It will come to you in an unexpected way as the dark night experience of the Void blends with the Plentitude where some are lifted to Union with the Source of manifest reality. It is the beginning of knowing who you are as you are returned to where the journey began, seeing it for the first time.
