Warhol is as important to the world of avant-garde film as he is to the world of art. There is no single book that addresses all of Warhols films (though there are several books that treat individual films). Murphy is a filmmaker himself, and his readings of the films are detailed, sometimes challenging, and occasionally idiosyncratic, much like the films themselves. Murphys close analysis of how they were created provides a revisionist view of Warhols methods.
