Ein Schauplatz des Ersten Weltkrieges ist die Gebirgsfront zwischen Österreich und Italien. Dieser Krieg, der unzählige Todesopfer forderte, hinterließ auch in den Bergen seine Spuren. Für die Recherche zu diesem Buch kletterten der Autor Hans-Joachim Löwer und der Fotograf Udo Bernhart hinauf zu alten Kanonen, stapften durch Minentunnel und entdeckten Waffen und Leichenteile, die aus Gletschern aufgetaut sind. Histoirsches Fotomaterial und aktuelle Bilder stellen das Damals dem Heute gegenüber.
