The power is out. The tracks are dead. And they are not alone.

When a massive power failure paralyzes the New York transit system, MTA inspector Rina Calder and a handful of late-night commuters find themselves stranded deep beneath the city streets. But the stalled train is the least of their problems. Hidden within the abandoned infrastructure and forgotten ghost stations, a shadowy bio-corporation has successfully resurrected the ultimate apex predator.

Four adult Smilodon fatalis have breached containment, and they have been conditioned to hunt by the vibration of the tracks.

Armed with only a steel pipe and fading flashlights, Rina must lead the survivors through a labyrinth of flooding maintenance corridors and pitch-black tunnels. They are outmatched, out of time, and being herded by an intelligence that has spent years studying its concrete cage. The city above is preparing to restart the grid, an action that will draw the massive felines directly to the helpless passenger cars. To stop the slaughter, Rina has to run a gauntlet of teeth and claws to reach the manual override.

The hunt is on. Extinction is canceled.
