A mine collapse.
Eleven men dead.
A case quietly closed.

Forty years later, someone starts asking questions.

When investigative journalist Maren Holt discovers a forgotten footnote buried inside an old state archive, it points to a coal mine disaster that never quite made sense. The official report calls it an accident.

The records say otherwise.

As Maren digs deeper into decades-old safety reports, witness statements, and sealed company files, a disturbing pattern begins to emerge-missing inspections, altered documents, and warnings that were quietly ignored.

Someone knew the mine was going to fail.

Someone signed off anyway.

But the deeper Maren goes, the more resistance she finds. Old records disappear. Retired officials refuse to talk. And the company responsible still has powerful friends.

The case may have been marked Filed, Pending.

But the truth was never closed.

Now the past is reopening.

And some people will do anything to keep it buried.

For readers who enjoy atmospheric investigative thrillers, buried secrets, and slow-burn revelations, Filed, Pending delivers a gripping mystery about power, accountability, and the stories that refuse to stay hidden.
