Grandpa loves to fish, but he can never fish in the lake near his house in case Big Knees catches him. This is the story of how Big Knees came to serve the Queen Under the Sea.
This traditional story from El Salvador is retold by the character of Grandpa as Andres and Gloria wonder whether he's really telling the truth about the rich man who disappeared while fishing on the lake high in the mountains.
To aid language learning, this book was made with the help of a native Spanish speaker from El Salvador. The character of 'El Tabudo' was renamed 'Big Knees' in English to make him more easily relatable to other mythical creatures such as Big Foot. Consequently, the book's title was also changed, but the main contents of the story remains essentially the same. However, a few minor changes may be included in the text to challenge young readers with keen eyes to find them!
# 441 in the Bilingual Legends series: This book is in both English & Spanish.
Note: The title of this book is different in the two languages but the story is the same.
