Covering an area of twenty-four square miles, the island of Guernsey is divided into ten parishes, most still bearing their French names. The reader is taken on a tour of the island, from arrival at the town of St Peter Port, with its harbour and bustling markets, to the surrounding districts including St Pierre du Bois and the picturesque Cobo Bay.
