Three ceiling lights go out at once. Exactly four seconds. Then they come back on.

Laura counted.

It's her first day of high school, and she already has enough to deal with: a huge new school, unfamiliar classmates, signs pointing in different directions. But then there are rooms no one seems able to find. A boy famous for his drawings who suddenly stops drawing. And small details that, on their own, might mean nothing.

The problem is, they keep piling up.

With Marco, Carlo, and Sofia, Laura decides to do the only sensible thing: stop relying on impressions and start checking the facts. They count steps and seconds, compare windows with floor plans, and even keep track of the corridors where nothing happens at all.

Until they discover something that should be impossible:

measured from the outside, their school is bigger than it is on the inside.

And something even older is waiting for them in the archives. In 1944, an entire class vanished from the school's history. There is an official explanation, of course.

An explanation that is just a little too perfect.

And while the four friends try to uncover what was erased, someone notices that they have started asking questions.

For Laura, finding the truth has always been the safest way to make the right decision.
