I Became Rich

This author integrates performance art with her journey as an immigrant to America. Being a creative academician, she attempts to deconstruct boundaries and negative perceptions of the human form, primarily those of women of African descent. Humans create boundaries and borders, yet our bodies are not separate from the environment. Petulia challenges the reader to interpret the images instead of gazing at them mindlessly as she travels the world and connects with other female adventurers. On this solo journey, museums become sacred spaces where art comes to life and images haunt the inner being--the soul, the spirit. As she travels through Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, and Venice, people freely share their stories with her. This experience gave birth to "I Became Rich: Getting Lost Beyond Borders."

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Petulia Blake, Ph.D. is a humanist and an avant-garde performing artist for socio-environmentalism. She teaches business and has been publishing scholarly articles on corporate sustainability and social responsibility since 2010. In her spare time, Blake creates STEM programs funded by NASA. A champion for the creative community and inner-city female artists, she is the owner of an event venue in Connecticut. Blake has a Bachelor's degree in American Cultural Studies/Spanish and a doctorate in Technology Management. She enjoys swimming, hiking, and biking.
