Jake's Tree

Jake, an attractive, fit man, in his 40s, in a not so startling job, is an idealist and romantic: More capitalist than socialist; more right than left wing. Morals questionable, to the many, but his heart is in the right place, even though not understood nor appreciated, even by those close to him. For almost all his life he has had dreams, desires, wants, needs, wishes ... to live a different life (but he is no Walter Mitty).

We all have some form of a chip on our shoulders, minor, major, small or large, in the case of Jake it was more than just a chip. His wishes have a similar end, but the means to that end have gone through many changes, as he has grown older.
Those in Heaven watch all those on Earth. Jake is no exception, and the story stars at the time an angel, known as Provider 97-219, comes to Jake to grant his wish.
Jake's wish is different to what the angel expected. This was due to those watching not "being n the ball" and the angel can't grant the wish without consulting with his superiors. This requires discussions at various forums in Heaven.

Jake does get his wish and the story moves onto the impact of Jake's wish various groups, and it's impact on Jake as his wish does not turn out the way he had hoped.

There is also romance [sex], not always conventional and mainly between Jake and his lover, Miko: Of mixed-race, about 20 years younger than Jake, very beautiful, super smart, ambitious lawyer. With a brain and personality that Jake finds almost as exciting as her beautiful face and body.
