Metaphors We Live By: Culture, Belonging, & Identity is a collection of forty essays examining how culture forms the self before the self is old enough to evaluate it, what belonging costs and what it provides, and what happens to identity when the culture that shaped it no longer fits.

It is a series of observations about the invisible formation. How culture enters before it can be evaluated, how belonging exacts its price, and what identity is made of when the water finally becomes visible.
For those formed by a culture they did not choose.
