She was sent. God named her alongside Moses and Aaron as one of three whom the LORD sent to deliver Israel. And God held her to a standard that rose with the office she carried.
Micah 6:4 names Miriam in a formal covenant lawsuit - not as support staff, not as a footnote, but in the same clause, governed by the same verb, without qualification of rank: "I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam."
MIRIAM: The Third Leader traces her complete record - from the unnamed girl at the Nile who saved her brother with nine words and no commission, to the prophetess who packed tambourines before the sea ever parted, to the leader struck with leprosy for challenging her brother's authority, to the woman whose death in Numbers 20 is followed in the very next verse by the failure of the water.
The book's three-word thesis comes from Scripture itself: sent (Micah 6:4), named (same verse, same clause, alongside Moses and Aaron), held (Deuteronomy 24:9 - commanded national remembrance). A theology of commissioned leadership and its accountability is the claim that when God sends someone - genuinely sends them - He does not release them from obligation. He enrolls them in it. The sending is the elevation. The elevation is the exposure.
Seven chapters read the whole record:
