The stage is set. A modern hospital in Singapore, specializing in ear, nose, and throat issues.
Ten patients have arrived who all suffer from a persistent cough. They have agreed to take part in a 30-day experiment to try out a new wonder drug - MK888.
Professor Lee is heading the medical team, supported by three doctors and one nurse.
In addition to the MK888 drug, the patients will be subjected to various medical tests and procedures. Some of the tests are routine, some are unusual - one is dangerously insane.
The ten patients (five male and five female) come from interesting backgrounds. Each patient has been given a synonym to indicate their nationality. For instance, HK1 is a Hong Kong national. SG3 is a Singaporean national.
All patients are residing at the hospital throughout the 30-day trial to monitor any side effects that may result from the drug.
