In August 2023, Micah Taylor asked an AI for twenty dinner ideas his picky eaters might tolerate. Three years later, he was reviewing overnight reports from an AI agent running on a secondhand server in his closet.

So he did the thing that seemed most logical to him: he exported every conversation he had ever had with an AI — 16,366 prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and an agent of his own, timestamped from the beginning — and analyzed them to find out what had actually changed.

Turns out, it wasn't better prompting. That skill was the floor. What changed was everything around the prompt: what he handed the machine, what he stopped asking it, and what he started assigning it instead.
