It asks what remains of a person when memory itself becomes territory to be conquered. From that question came Echo Stone, a man driven not by mere ambition but by possession-by the obscene desire to inhabit human lives by stealing what makes them theirs. Standing against him is Samantha Timberwolf, a survivor who refuses to be erased. She testifies. She endures. She will not let silence have the last word.
Writing about the young lady Samantha was the most difficult part of this journey. How do you render pain without exploiting it? How do you write captivity, loss, and terror without surrendering the work to despair? From the first page, I knew she could not be written as a passive victim. She had to possess interior force. She had to bleed and resist in the same breath. She had to remain wounded, yes-but never diminished. That is the balance trauma demands of a character: vulnerability without collapse, damage without disappearance, strength that does not pretend the scars are not there.
