The book is a historical fiction cozy mystery with strong elements of romance. It is set in Mumbles, Wales, in post-WWII in 1947. Europe was just beginning reconstruction both of its physical infrastructure as well as individual countries realigning their politics away from fascism. Europe needed to begin rebuilding but there was little money in any countries coffers and materials and manpower were scarce Rationing was still a reality, housing was difficult to find as the damage to buildings was extensive in many cities, and people were still floundering under the weight of sorrow from the immense loss of life. Neither Life Nor Death touches on these issues and includes a Historical Perspective at the end of the book.

The audience for this book and this series is readers from young adult through older adult who have an interest in history, and reading cozy mysteries that are suspenseful and sprinkled with romance.
