Die Arbeit untersucht Veränderungen in den Schreibmustern bei jungen Erwachsenen (Abiturienten). Materialbasis sind zwei Textkorpora: schulische Texte aus den 1990er Jahren und ein historisches Korpus mit Abiturarbeiten aus einem Zeitraum von 1881-1991. In einem ersten Teil werden textlinguistisch spezifische Merkmale aktueller Texte unter dem Begriff Parlando zusammengefaßt, beschrieben und deren Herausbildung am historischen Textkorpus nachgezeichnet. Der zweite Teil entfaltet sprachtheoretische und sprachgeschichtliche sowie sozialwissenschaftliche und bildungstheoretische Erklärungsmuster für das Phänomen Parlando. Als Ergebnis kann das Textmuster Parlando gedeutet werden als Indiz für einen soziokommunikativen Sprachwandel in der Schriftlichkeit.
