In insgesamt 14 Beiträgen wird diese hier erstmals näher umrissene, auch kulturgeschichtlich bedeutsame Quellengattung der Kanonistik vorgestellt. Weitere Aufsätze äußern sich zur Bedeutung dieser Quellen für die Forschung.
