Prem Ki Peer - The Pain of Divine Love presents the devotional poetry of Shri Hit Bhori Sakhi, also known as Shri Bholanath Ji Maharaj, a revered rasika saint and poet of the Radhavallabh tradition of Vrindavan. His life was wholly dedicated to Shri Radha, Shri Krishna, and the sacred land of Vrindavan. His poetry expresses the deepest moods of viraha (separation), vinaya (humble prayer), longing, surrender, and divine love.Born in Bhelsa in 1890, Shri Bholanath Ji passed through education, marriage, scholarship, and royal service before ultimately surrendering himself to the spiritual life of Vrindavan.
There, he became deeply absorbed in bhajan, seva, Hariwansh Naam, and contemplation of the eternal pastimes of Shri Radha and Shri Krishna. His special devotion to Sevakunj and his profound love for the dust of Vrindavan became central to his spiritual life. He composed approximately six hundred devotional poems, writing under the names Bhori, Hit Bhori, and Bhori Hit. His verses reveal a heart consumed by longing for the darshan and eternal service of Shri Radharani. At times humble and pleading, at times restless with separation, and at times intimately addressing Shri Radharani, his poetry carries the voice of a devotee who desires nothing but Her grace, Her darshan, and eternal sakhi-seva.About This English EditionThis edition makes the devotional poetry of Shri Hit Bhori Sakhi accessible to English-speaking readers through English transliteration and translation.
