Die zweite Facette dieses Themas ist die Liebe in der Psychoanalyse, also die Übertragungsliebe in ihren vielfältigen und konfliktreichen Ausgestaltungen. Aber nicht nur der Patient, sondern auch der Psychoanalytiker ist betroffen, der im Sturm seiner Gegenübertragungsgefühle eine Gratwanderung vollbringen soll: Wieviele Liebe muß der Analytiker seinem Patienten entgegenbringen, um ihn behandelt zu können? Und andererseits: Wieviel Liebe zu seinem Patienten ist ihm erlaubt? Daneben werden in diesem Buch, dessen Thema bewußt weit gefaßt ist, Verbindungen zu den Nachbardisziplinen Soziologie, Philosophie und Sexualwissenschaften gezogen.
