Trolls are real, and they live in a little village called Heimli, Norway. But that's not news to Unni who has hidden their truth for over half a lifetime, or risk being called crazy.

When a job opens up in the new and highly protected town, the widow takes a chance to reclaim her life, revisit her past, and find answers to the question that has plagued her since leaving forty years before: what happened to the troll she loved?

Heimli is public, out in the open, and funds are pouring into the area alongside humans, but Ivar is only interested in one of them. He is about to give up hope of his first and only love ever returning. That is, until he sees her face staring back at him from a list of candidates to run the very shop he is building. Unni is coming back, and he has to see if she feels the way he still does after all these years.

After a passionate reunion, emotions are running high, making working together more of a challenge than they first thought as ugly unanswered questions rise to the surface. Why did that carefree girl disappear never to return? Why did that sweet, sensitive troll never write back? Can they overcome the secrets buried over time, or is their newly rekindled love as fragile as a butterfly's wing, meant to disintegrate in the coming winter wind?
