Solid Foundation

A "straight"-forward contractor and a bubbly, very not-straight TV show host find a hidden secret from the past. They say history repeats itself, but Jake and Max deserve a happier ending...

Jake:

I'm a no-nonsense guy. A straight shooter. I have to be. There's not much choice in the home renovation industry. If you love your job as much as I do and want to keep doing it, you can't sugar coat things. Some call that grumpy. I call it respecting everyone's time.

So when my boss tells me my latest project involves being shadowed by a camera crew for a home improvement show, I'm not happy. When the host turns out to be a young, enthusiastic ray of sunshine, I hate it even more.

Who cares if he's charming and good looking? I'm straight and won't be swayed by his good looks or his charm. He and his crew can follow me around for a few weeks, and then he'll be out of my hair and I'll never have to see him again. Which is what I want. Absolutely.

Max:

The house we're filming for our new show is a dream. Utterly gorgeous, just like the foreman on the project. Okay, they both have good foundations. Solid structures. The rest? Well, let's just say they both need a little TLC. But it's fine. I can work with it. I can work with Jake, even if he's a bit of a grump. A know-it-all with the tact of a bulldozer. I won't let that stop me from making my first project as a producer a rousing success.

Then we find a box of letters hidden in the house. Not just any letters-love letters of a... forbidden nature, at least for the time they were written. But they're romantic, so full of longing and love that I just need to return them to the rightful heirs. The investigation turns into a journey of discovery. Not just for me. Jake has his own awakening. And it could turn out to be the find of a lifetime.
