The building's older residents know more than they say. The records are incomplete. And the man who has lived upstairs since 1978 refuses to answer the door.

Felix Vane is the quiet tenant in flat nine, a man made of routines, silence, and grief so old it has become architecture. For decades, he has watched over the building, kept its dead remembered, and survived by never asking for more than the walls could safely hold.
