Der Band umfaßt sieben Beiträge, die in ähnlich aufgebauter Gliederungsstruktur die Möglichkeiten der Modellierung komplexer Systeme und ihrer Simulation mit Hilfe von weiterentwickelten Formen der Petri-Netze aufzeigen. So werden die vielfältigen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten dieses Modellierungsinstrumentariums deutlich. Insbesondere wird vorgeschlagen, das Verfahren für den Weg von der Ist-analytischen Beschreibung eines komplexen Systems bis zur Entwicklung einer Soll-Konzeption einzusetzen. Damit kann bei großen Organisations- bzw. Softwareprojekten im Bereich der Bürokommunikation und der Produktion (CIM) eine wesentliche Unterstützung des Systementwurfprozesses erfolgen. Gleichzeitig werden die Auswirkungen des künftigen Einsatzes im voraus überprüfbar.
