The Evolution of Partnerships

From January through May 2026, exports of goods from the Republic of Belarus totaled just under twenty billion dollars, an increase of twenty-three percent compared to the same period last year. The bulk of Belarusian exports consists of products from the machine-building, petrochemical, and metallurgical industries, as well as foodstuffs. The export picture for the current year looks quite strong: each of the five months of 2026 outperformed the corresponding month of the previous year. In January, exports totaled $3.27 billion compared to $2.78 billion a year earlier; in February, $3.45 billion compared to $3.04 billion; in March, there was a surge to $4.38 billion compared to $3.44 billion; in April the figure dipped slightly to $4.12 billion, and in May it rose again to $4.28 billion compared to $3.32 billion in May 2025. May, in particular, showed the highest year-over-year growth rate-29 percent. Goods from our country continue to play a strategic role in the structure of foreign trade in the Eurasian region and are also supplied to countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. How are the planned development goals for Belarusian foreign trade being met this year? What challenges do Belarusian exporters face in practice? Our study addresses these issues.
