The Light That Went Thin

The light above Dusk Keep has burned for a thousand years. Tonight, it flickers.

Olwen 'Boo', Jax and Leo are the only ones who can see it failing. To the grown-ups, the flame still burns bright. But the wall around the Keep is softening, a frightened dragon has crossed through, and something enormous is moving in the dark.

Chosen as the new Keepers, the three siblings must discover what keeps a Dusklight alive - and why the last Keepers disappeared.

Their search will take them beyond the wall and into the Night-wilds, a place shaped by memory, imagination and the things people leave behind. There they will encounter strange creatures, forgotten paths, lost names and broken promises - and begin to understand that not every monster is what it first appears to be.

But keeping the light burning will take more than bravery.

Jax wants to act. Boo notices what everyone else misses. Leo has a way of seeing things differently. Together, they will have to learn when to run, when to listen, when to trust one another - and when keeping the wall matters more than being right.

A family fantasy adventure for ages 7-11, The Light That Went Thin is a children's fantasy story filled with magic, mystery, dragons, strange creatures, sibling adventure and an immersive fantasy world. It is ideal for independent young readers and family read-alouds, with themes of courage, friendship, memory, empathy, responsibility and the bonds between brothers and sisters.

Readers who enjoy magical adventures, mysterious worlds, fantasy creatures, sibling heroes, hidden places, dragons, quests and stories where kindness matters as much as courage will find plenty to discover beyond the wall.

At its heart, The Light That Went Thin is a story about what happens when the things everyone else has forgotten still matter to you - and whether three children can protect a world the grown-ups can no longer see changing.

Because some monsters are only frightened.

Some dangers don't mean harm.

And some things are lost only when nobody remembers them.

Look before you leap.

Ask before you fight.

But keep the wall - whatever it costs.
