The landscape of the Scottish Lallans (Central Lowlands) is a place of ancient history and enduring beauty. While Burnside Manor, its locale, landscape, and its inhabitants are fictional; the efforts to restore the natural balance of our wild places are very real, and the theme continues within this book series.

In recent years, Scotland has seen the reintroduction of species long thought lost to their borders, such as the Eurasian Beaver.

In a prior story, I had taken the liberty of imagining a "trial stewardship" where another ancient species finds a home hidden within the Central Lowland glens; the Eurasian Marsican Brown Bear, relocated from the Apennines of Italy.
Readers of my Continuing Adventures of Angus Bruin (the Series Two books), may find certain familiar characters in my third book of the Indefatigable Cecilia Crump, a 'Sidequel Series.'

In this book we witness the passing of a much-loved member of the Burnside Lallans community; and we attend her purvey.
