This book updates Machiavelli's The Prince for our time. Oligarchy is a hot topic: the visible and overwhelming power asserted by oligarchic forces rings throughout the press. Machiavelli begins stating that "All states, all powers, that have held and hold rule over men have been and are either republics or principalities"-this book rewrites that as "All states and all companies that have ever ruled people have functioned as oligarchies."
