The Phantom Clock

Every clock in Nocturnia has stopped.

At exactly 11:47 p.m., time freezes across the monster-filled city. Raindrops hang motionless in the air. Citizens lose mysterious seconds. And when a three-ton bank vault door disappears without a trace, Vampire Cop Victor Vane and Werewolf Firefighter Wesley Wolfe know this is no ordinary crime.

Their investigation leads to tiny mechanical footprints, an army of mischievous Clockwork Goblins, and the mysterious Professor Pendulum-a ghostly master of time who can freeze the world for three seconds at a time. But as Victor carefully records the clues in his ever-present notebook and Wesley follows his instincts, they begin to realize that Professor Pendulum may not be the one truly pulling the strings.

With Sparky the Dalmatian sniffing out clues, Dimitri the Dragon lending his strength, and Benny Bat providing his own unusual brand of assistance, Victor and Wesley must uncover the secret of the ancient Midnight Chronometer before Nocturnia becomes trapped between seconds forever.

But someone else is watching.

Black coins bearing a mysterious silver eye are appearing where they shouldn't. Instructions arrive inside locked rooms. Objects move when no one is touching them. And Professor Pendulum seems terrified of an employer he has never even seen.

To save Nocturnia, Victor will have to learn that even perfect logic cannot solve every mystery-and that sometimes Wesley's instincts, Sparky's nose, Dimitri's courage, and a very small bat can uncover what even a vampire detective misses.
