The Sterile Laureate

The Sterile Laureate is a dystopian novel set in a future where peace is maintained through biological integration between humans, machines, and the built environment. Every citizen is connected to a bio-computational network designed to suppress emotional volatility and maintain social stability. Within this engineered system, women-biologically more compatible with the integration technology-are elevated as stabilizing leaders, while men are treated as expendable subjects used to test and maintain the infrastructure of control.
Candidate 74 is one of the Ministry's most promising Laureate candidates, selected for her exceptional compatibility with the system. Subject 2024 is one of thousands of disposable male test subjects. When the two begin experiencing an impossible resonance that allows them to sense and communicate with one another beyond the system's control, they awaken something the Ministry believed it had eliminated: genuine human connection.
As their bond spreads through the integrated infrastructure of the world itself, the system designed to control humanity begins to fracture. Facing containment and isolation, Candidate 74 ultimately betrays Subject 2024 in order to survive, revealing the mechanism of their connection to the Ministry. His death follows.
But the resonance does not disappear. Candidate 74 later discovers she carries his child-conceived in a moment that defies the boundary between physical and telepathic connection.
