The Truth about Tess

Sixteen-year-old Tess Anderson has lived a life carved by tragedy. Every family she has ever known has been torn away. Accidents, illness, fires, and unexplainable disasters follow her like a curse. Classmates steer clear of her. Adults pity her. Only one person has never looked at her with fear. Grace Wasser, the girl who has been at Tess's side since the night her little brother died.

When Tess loses yet another foster family, she knows she's run out of options. But Grace's family takes her in, offering Tess something she's long stopped believing she deserves, a home that feels real.

But Tess doesn't know the truth.

She doesn't know what she carries in her eyes, the color of sunset, is what has marked her as Death's.
She doesn't know she has been protected her entire life by Ezekiel, a rebellious Guardian Angel willing to bargain away others' lives to keep her breathing.
And she doesn't know that Death himself has been watching...waiting...for sixteen years for the moment she finally belongs to him.

When fate finally demands its price, Tess will learn that some truths don't save you... They destroy you.
