Welcome to Whitmore Manor. The house is haunted. The residents are hopeless. And the living have absolutely no idea what they're moving into.
At Whitmore Manor, the greatest disagreements rarely involve life and death. They're usually about missing teaspoons, furniture in the wrong places, household regulations nobody follows, and whose turn it is to explain why something has mysteriously disappeared.
For a household whose occupants have known one another for centuries, they have become remarkably good at getting on each other's nerves.
Meet the residents:
Walter Whitmore - A seventeen-year-old ghost who has been dead for two hundred years. Once an enthusiastic haunter, he now prefers books, quiet afternoons, and staying out of everyone else's nonsense. Rarely succeeds at the last one.
Stanley - An ancient house spirit with a magnificent beard, an enormous ledger, and a firm belief that every problem can be solved through proper household regulations. Nobody reads them.
Kevin - A mischievous poltergeist who considers moving furniture an art form and frightening people a perfectly respectable pastime.
Vanessa - A dignified banshee with a beautiful voice, a flair for tragedy, and a tendency to make even the simplest occasion sound like a funeral.
Gary - A goblin with an impressive collection of teaspoons, missing household objects, and absolutely no understanding of why anyone would call it stealing.
Dylan - A tiny horned troublemaker who once dreamed of becoming an eternal tormentor. Unfortunately, his greatest talent involves flickering lights and causing minor electrical inconveniences.
Together, they have survived centuries of changing owners, questionable renovations, and Stanley's increasingly desperate attempts to maintain order.
Then the Bennett family arrives.
And with them comes Ellie, an eight-year-old girl who has an extraordinary ability to make friends with people everyone else would rather run away from.
What follows is ten years of peculiar friendships, disastrous haunting attempts, household disagreements, growing pains, and the unexpected discovery that even the most stubborn supernatural residents might still have something to learn about life.
The Unliving Residents of Whitmore Manor is a humorous, heartwarming supernatural tale about an unlikely family, the absurdities of living together, and the surprising things that can happen when a haunted house finally becomes a home.
After all, being dead is no excuse for bad manners.
