Hope can be paralyzing.

Ten years after her father's death, crime journalist Kylie Lewis wants to believe her father is really gone, especially when everyone around her insists on it. Mysterious murders crop up around Midtown, all linked by the same modus operandi. Assigned to report on these crimes, Kylie finds something vaguely familiar about them. Determined to push herself to succeed in her field, she searches for everything she can about these crimes.

Her search comes to a screeching halt when a man who claims to know her father attacks her. After nearly dying on the operating table, Kylie struggles to cope with the trauma of her attack. Her relationship with her fiancé and her life around her face strain as she pushes the boundaries of death in her search for answers.
