Kave returns from Germany to a country that was once his homeland - and today feels both familiar and completely foreign to him. He originally only wanted to take care of a few things. But shortly after his arrival, reality slowly begins to fall apart. Permits suddenly disappear. Laws seem to change their meaning depending on the time of day. Everyone supposedly knows someone in the intelligence service, the police, the military, or the Ministry of Justice. And somewhere in the middle of it all, a well builder is seriously trying to reinvent geometry. The longer Kave stays, the more the feeling grows that it is not the people who live within the system - but that the system somehow continues to live within the people themselves. Taxi drivers give philosophical lectures on world politics. Officials explain rules that contradict themselves again five minutes later. Families argue for days about carpets, pieces of land, and events that sometimes seem older than the revolution itself. And although everything is on the verge of collapsing, everyday life somehow continues to function in a strange way. Or perhaps precisely because of that. With black humor, sharp observation, and a reality that often seems more absurd than any satire, this novel tells the story of people who have become both victims and defenders of their own system at the same time. Some scenes seem completely made up. Unfortunately, many of them actually happened. This novel does not try to appear perfect or polished. It works more like modern art:
raw, direct, sometimes chaotic, sometimes contradictory - but full of life.
Because that is exactly what the world through which Kave moves feels like:
loud, absurd, tragic, funny, and at the same time frighteningly normal. A novel about power, survival, identity - and about the strange question of how far a society can drift away from reality until, at some point, even mathematics becomes a matter of negotiation.
