This collection of essays and sermons by Rodney Kennedy and Kyle Childress is focused on honoring the memory of Will Campbell--the prophet from the South who made a vocation of destroying sacred cows. The essays and sermons attempt to be true to the spirit of Will Campbell's devotion to the gospel above all else. It should not be surprising that the essays and sermons are about the business of deconstructing more sacred cows while lifting up the truth claims of the gospel. ""The same God who blessed us with preacher man Will Campbell now blesses us with Childress and Kennedy. These two preachers show how much so many of us owe to preacher Will. Campbell was a creative, faithful, folksy, brilliant, Baptist, gospel-giving, pain in the neck, kick in the butt for so many of us. The fun, biting, serious, deceptively folksy, joyful sermons and essays in Will Campbell, Preacher Man are eloquent testimony to what Will Campbell continues to do for us preachers. It's amazing what Jesus can do, once he is let loose, even among those of us who lack the guts of Will Campbell."" --Will Willimon, United Methodist Bishop, retired; Professor of Christian Ministry, Duke Divinity School Kyle Childress is the pastor of Austin Heights Baptist Church of Nacogdoches, Texas. Rodney Kennedy is the lead pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio.
